Spa Alila at Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur, India

The first and only resort in India with a fully operational spa, Alila Fort Bishangarh’s offering features design true to its location. A sense of mystery looms throughout, with a stone-like spiral stairway descending underground to the entrance. Carved out between granite rocks in the fort’s old dungeon, the result is an unlikely sense of calm and wellbeing filled with soft, indirect lighting. Black marble, sleeper wood, iron lattice railings and flower petals in brass urns add a local touch, while original coloured-glass ITRA perfume bottles – used in ancient India – add a sense of authenticity.
