Two-time winner at AHEAD Asia 2026, South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao, MGallery Collection, is a holistic approach to wellbeing and responsible development, awarded for its Sustainability and Spa & Wellness facilities.
Set on the Philippine island of Bohol, the resort incorporates timber reclaimed from fishing boats and typhoon-damaged buildings, while limestone excavated on-site was repurposed as architectural cladding. Passive design and solar energy reduce operational demand, with greywater reuse, on-site water bottling, glass recycling and composting creating a more circular approach to waste. Local sourcing extends throughout the project, from Philippine-made furniture to handwoven raffia, earthenware and ingredients grown at a local.
The judges praised the project’s “great storytelling and locally driven narrative”, expressed throughout its design, operations and approach to wellbeing. Its celebration of Boholano traditions and overall relaxed character were “refreshing to see”, while the close response to both the site and community gives the resort its distinctive identity.
