A cinematic dining experience high above the Bund, Spago Shanghai at The St. Regis took home the Restaurant award at AHEAD Asia 2026.
Marriott International worked with Foster + Partners and AB Concept to create the rooftop destination, which combines Wolfgang Puck’s timeless Hollywood heritage with a futuristic narrative inspired by John Jacob Astor IV’s A Journey in Other Worlds. From the grand sculptural pavilion of the lounge to the open kitchen celebrating the artistry of the craft, the experience encourages guests to become part of the performance, framed by panoramic views of the Shanghai skyline.
Commended as having “the strongest point of view”, the restaurant impressed the jury with its distinctive storytelling, rich materiality and warmth. The scale of the space paired with the intimate seating and lighting were praised for “celebrating dining as a social art”, with its memorable ceiling design a particular highlight.
