Shinola Hotel, Detroit, USA

Engaged by Shinola and Detroit-based developer Bedrock - companies that are said to be catalysts for Detroit’s revitalization, Gachot Studios was tasked with conceiving and designing a luxury hotel in downtown Detroit that would be both brands’ first foray into hospitality - Shinola Hotel.

Designer and development consultant, Gachot Studios, worked with architect of record Kraemer

Design Group to conceptualize a hotel that inhabits a mix of existing historic structures, including the original T.B. Rayl Company Building and Singer sewing machine factory and newly constructed buildings. The 129-room hotel was designed to be a beacon of energy, respite, and pride for the city, its citizens and visitors alike to spend quality time in good company. The property offers a diverse array of culinary experiences including classic cocktail service in the Living Room and Evening Bar, authentic Southern Italian cuisine at San Morello, and craft beers and Detroit-style fried chicken at The Brakeman and Penny Red's. Shinola Hotel also features a gym, events space, atrium, and ground-floor retail both on the street and within an interior activated alley.
